INTERVIEWS AND COMMUNICATION
Passion for knowing more
My career has been privileged in one respect. I have been paid to learn more about companies and people. Most of my last twenty years have been about making corporate film. This has trained my eye. But what I think is my sharpest mind is my ear.
I like to listen to people.
I found, when I started doing film interviews, that an important prerequisite for finding out about something is that the person I interview feel trust. That the openness I managed to create would not later be turned against this person. One consequence of this is that I most seldom lie, as a lie is the best way to erase trust.
In business, I sometimes find that this is regarded as something strange and inappropriate. A sales pitch is considered to consist of a beautiful story that covers all aspects of customer needs. Well, what goes up often comes down, sooner or later. If you cannot deliver, you are smoked. Another way to put it is that I prioritize long-term business relationships. My company has been good at it. Many of the companies I’ve worked for was my customers for more than ten years. You see some of them exposed in my Showreel further down.
